EVERY VOTE COUNTS!
What prompted this, you may wonder? Well:
Talk to your family, your mates, your neighbours. Some say local elections don’t matter — but they do. They shape your community today and build the foundation for tomorrow. This is how Reform UK builds its base to Save Britain in 2029. We need you. Your country needs you. Let’s get to work.
I live deep in the red wall. A Labour stronghold for the last 86 years.
There are always the same three arguments about elections:
1. Me dad voted Labour an’ me grandad, ‘an his dad before ‘im. Our family worked the mines since before Victoria sat on the throne. If it was good enough for them, I trust the Labour party.
(Mate, the last mine closed in 1991, you weren’t even born then!)
2. What’s the point, they are all the same.
(Can’t argue with that point, but at least Reform offers a fragile hope).
3. What’s the point, you can put a red rosette on a turd in the park and they’d vote for it without a thought.
(See 1.)
Actually though…
In the last by election here, held a few months back, Labour got hammered! The Tories got hammered. Lib Dems got destroyed. If they had a candidate, they lost their deposit!
Reform romped through with over 45% of the votes!
HUZZAH!
What Reform were less forthcoming about was the voter turnout – just 16%.
84% of voters never bothered to turn out!
So yes, getting out and voting is CRITICAL.
As you can see below, there was actually less than 90 votes in it!
I’ll take the win, gladly, but it’s not the resounding victory that Reform paraded across social media.
Just a handfull more labour, a few less Reform, different result altogether.
Labour won 411 seat in the GE with 33% of votes – and a 60% turnout
Reform won 1 council seat with 45% of the votes – and a 16% turnout.
That is not democracy, that’s apathy! Get out and vote! Make a difference!
